Attendance

Attendance at Arbour Academy

At Arbour Academy, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils receive an education that enables them to reach their full potential. Excellent attendance is fundamental to academic success, personal development and future opportunities.

We strive to provide a welcoming, caring environment where every member of our community feels valued, safe and secure. Our staff work closely with pupils and their families to encourage regular and punctual attendance, offering support, guidance and mentoring where needed.

 Why Attendance Matters

Regular and punctual attendance at school is both a legal requirement and essential for pupils to maximise their educational opportunities.

Every day in school counts. Even small amounts of absence can have a significant impact on learning, confidence, friendships and progress.

Your child should attend school every day unless there is an unavoidable reason for absence.

Reporting an Absence

If your child is absent, parents/carers must:

  • Inform the school on the first day of absence
  • Continue to notify the school on each subsequent day of absence
  • Where we are unable to make contact regarding a pupil’s absence, the school will follow safeguarding procedures, which may include        conducting a home visit.

If there are difficulties affecting attendance, we strongly encourage parents/carers to contact the school so we can offer support and advice.

Our Approach to Supporting Attendance

  • Attendance is monitored daily.
  • Full-time pupils are supported through target setting, mentoring and regular reviews.
  • We work in partnership with parents/carers and, where appropriate, the Education Welfare Officer.
  • Home tuition pupils have designated registers and individual timetables tailored to their provision.

We believe in early intervention and collaborative support to help pupils overcome barriers to attendance.
